Day 11 - Venice to Rome

Finally heading to Rome, our last stop! Also the hottest place with the best weather which was a great way to end our trip. The journey from Venice to Rome didn't take too long and luckily it was just one train. Once we got there we headed to our Airbnb which was around 20 minutes away from the station. The person we met there was so lovely, he gave us so much useful information too. This was my favourite Airbnb of them all, it was so cute and we had our own kitchen finally. The only thing I hated about it was the place it was in, just part of the area was full of men who would constantly stare at us. We're two young girls traveling alone so it was really off putting, we had an incident on the last day of these 2 men staring at us that we had to walk past 3 times as Jamey forgot her purse. I filmed them and Jamey stuck her finger up at them but they made me so angry I felt so uncomfortable.

Anyway, apart from that Rome was lovely. We went exploring straight away and headed towards a supermarket and then the Colosseum. It only took around 20 minutes to get to the Colosseum which wasn't bad at all. We ended up doing so much walking this day going past loads of beautiful buildings and having dinner at Piazza Navona.

After a really long, exhausting day we headed back to get some sleep. We popped to the supermarket on the way back and got some bread, butter, eggs and orange juice for our breakfast the next morning. The first time we were having a proper breakfast this whole trip! Also when we went back to the Airbnb we couldn't figure out how to open the door, we were sitting outside for a good 20 minutes wondering what to do because Jamey's phone had died and she had the hosts number on her phone. I tried opening the door again and it opened, I just had to turn it the other way a little more..  you could tell we were tired.

Day 12 - Rome

After accidentally walking a long way and then going on a hunt in different Sephora's, we finally arrived at the beautiful Trevi fountain, the also super busy filled with tourists Trevi fountain. We managed to get a good spot at the front and through our coins in and made a wish. We then got some gelato to start off the day right.

We then did a bit of shopping and came across the Spanish steps. Of course we felt the need to walk to the top of them and back down again. You just have to do these touristy things when you go abroad. I also wanted to add in this photo of me and the Colosseum that we took first thing in the morning, I love it so much.

We then went on a super long walk to this park, which really reminded me of Central park. We just went for a stroll and to see what was around, turns out they had a zoo. We had a look and it honestly looked amazing, I have never seen a zoo like it. We had spent most our money on shopping that day as we wanted to spend what we had left, but we managed to put our money together and afford it. I am so glad we went as we were in there for 2 and a half hours.

We then headed back to Piazza Navona to get some dinner, then watched the sun set which was so pretty. Rome is such a beautiful city.

Day 13 - Rome

Our last full day in Rome! I don't really have many photos to share from this day as we didn't do much. We walked around the city, had some ice cream, mcdonalds, went to a few more souvenir shops. We had done so much for the whole 2 weeks we were knackered and ready to go home. We should've saved our shopping for the last day but we didn't have much left. We watched some street performers, I had a bracelet made for Abbie that said her name, then got myself one too which was pretty cute. We had a delicious last meal then headed back for one last night at the Airbnb.

Day 14 - Rome to London

5am the alarm went off. I was actually excited to be getting up, I couldn't wait to get home and see my girlfriend and eat British food. My first meal back was actually garlic bread, potato waffles and beans. Then I had chinese for dinner so I was a very happy girl.

Europe you have been amazing. What an incredible 2 weeks and I am so happy I got to experience such an amazing trip. I feel I would probably do Interrailing again. Maybe way in the future as there's so many more places I want to travel to. Next year I am traveling to LA and New York so I am very excited to be blogging about those. For this trip I made a montage video which I love so much, it definitely takes me back to all the places I went to so if you'd want to check that out just click HERE. I worked so hard on it and I am so glad I kept up the filming in each city.

I hope you enjoyed my Europe blog posts.

Day 9 - Bern to Venice

We started traveling around midday to get to Venice. We got a train to Milan and then changed to a train which went straight to Venice. We arrived when it was dark so didn't do much that evening. The person who was supposed to meet us for our Airbnb was pretty late so we were sat waiting but the room was decent for 2 nights. We then went to the supermarket opposite us for snacks, had our first Italian McDonalds which was so good then headed back.

Day 10 - Venice

We only had one full day in Venice so we had to make the most of it. We got the bus which only takes around 10 minutes, I didn't understand the whole ticket thing or where to get tickets so we actually went on for free by accident. We got off the bus and followed where everyone else was going. Straight away we were met by a beautiful canal. Every corner you walk around is another canal. It was so pretty I loved taking lots of photos. This was also the first place we actually had decent weather, lots of sunshine and 24 degrees weather.

We had a slice of Italian pizza, this was our first slice of Italian pizza and it did not disappoint. Can I also mention they had the cutest pasta magnets ever. I'm kind of annoyed at myself for not buying one. They even have a toilet roll magnet...

We went to St Mark's Square which was super busy. I got a super cute Venice t-shirt from here though.

It's so easy to get lost in Venice, but everywhere is so pretty it doesn't really matter. There were plenty of souvenir shops around and they even had a Sephora here (still mad the UK doesn't have one). After doing a bit of shopping and a lot of walking we decided to have some gelato! Finally our first taste of Italian ice cream, it did not disappoint. I am quite plain when it comes to food so I did just stick to vanilla but it was delicious, I think Jamey had 3 different flavours and loved them all.

We had pasta for dinner and it was the best pasta I've ever had. Italy does not disappoint. It was a short stop in Venice but I'd definitely love to go back.

Day 5 - Amsterdam to Bern

If you're just seeing this blog post now, I am writing about my 2 week Europe journey and this is part 3. So if you're wanting to catch up the first 2 posts are already up!

So this journey was the worst of them all. This is where everything went wrong. We had a super long train journey that went from Amsterdam to Basel, then another train from Basel to Bern. We got on the train and for some reason it wasn't showing a lot of the stations. It said Basel on the sign but the stations only went up to one called Karlsruhe. Everyone started getting off as it had terminated so the panic set in. We asked a man who told us what to do, we had to get on a train that went to Rastatt, then we had to wait for a bus for ages that went to Baden Baden, then a train from there to Basel. It took so much longer but we made it! Just got stranded in Germany for a little while, so that was an experience.

Eventually we arrived in Bern, we had to get some change to use the tram, their money is so different to ours. Our Airbnb was a few minutes away, super easy to get to and right underneath one of the bridges. We was knackered from our travelling so just walked around the city and got some McDonalds.

Day 6 - Interlaken

I was so excited for this day. We decided to go to Interlaken on the first full day as that was the only day we were guaranteed sunshine. The whole reason we wanted to go to Interlaken was to see the beautiful views, go up the mountain and take amazing photos. If we had gone after this day it would have been cloudy and rainy. We accidentally sat in first class on our journey but no one came to check our tickets so we had a lovely journey.

First thing we did was go to the top of a mountain, Harderkulm. A carriage takes you to the top which was only about 10 minutes long. I was so nervous for that bit but it wasn't as bad as I expected. The view from the top was incredible. I have never experienced views like it. I got some amazing photos which I love so much.

We then went on a walk to Lake Brienz, it was quite a long walk but with the views of Interlaken it didn't matter at all. We chilled here for a bit taking more amazing photos.

We had lunch in the town which was really cute and they actually had loads of souvenir shops which we were so happy about! We then went to the Funky Chocolate Club which done the best chocolate covered strawberries. They were super expensive but Switzerland is expensive so we expected it.

Day 7 - Bern

Not much happened this day. It was a Sunday and everything was closed. There isn't much to do in Bern and I wish we didn't spend this much time there. We went to their zoo which was awful, we were in and out within 20 minutes. We walked around the city a bit and had to have McDonalds for dinner again, but I do love McDonalds so I didn't mind too much.

Day 8 - Bern

Our final day in Bern (thank god). We tried to fill our day with things to do as we were just impatient to go to Italy. We went to a Botanical Garden which was really cool, the Bärengraben where they have brown bears and the rose garden. The rose garden was at the top of a hill which was not fun to walk up, but the views were amazing.

I'd like to come back to Switzerland but I think I would just go to a more popular place or somewhere in the mountains. Interlaken was one of my favourite parts of the trip!
